Welcome to my website about kirie. Kirie is the Japanese word for papercutting. Papercutting originally came from ancient China. I've taken this traditional art form and created original works with Pacific Northwest themes. All the images you see were hand cut with a knife (not scissors!). Please check out my original pieces, prints, cards, and books.

My husband came across this NHK (Japan Broadcasting Co.) segment on mountain summits around the world. You don't have to watch all of it (it's in Japanese), but checkout the 2:52 mark (my Pike Place Market mural) of the video! [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRTrtoE9_IY']
